CaseyGerry is investigating a data breach reported by one of the top insurance companies in the country, Farmers Insurance.
According to the breach notification filed with the California State Attorney General’s office, Farmers Insurance auto quoting system was infiltrated by a malicious party in an attempt to access individuals’ personal data. The incident occurred between January 20 and February 12, 2021. According to the breach report, the system was accessed using personal information such as name, address and or date of birth acquired elsewhere with the goal of getting individuals driver’s license numbers.
The company has yet to release the number of those affected.
