San Diego (October 20, 2021) – Jeremy K. Robinson has launched a website to further the emerging practice area of e-commerce liability litigation. Partner of San Diego-based law firm, Casey Gerry Schenk Francavilla Blatt & Penfield LLP (CaseyGerry), and thought leader in e-commerce liability, Robinson continues to push for tougher laws holding online retailers accountable for harmful products and practices.
The website – https://www.ecommerceliability.com/ provides up-to-date information like news articles, briefs, case updates, opinions and more for attorneys, clients, judges, journalists, and others seeking information.
“I wanted to create an un-biased, information-rich resource because e-commerce liability is an area where legislation is catching up rapidly and is changing constantly.” Says Robinson.
“ ECommerceliability.com will be a platform for learning and collaboration as we, the collective legal community, continue to further consumer protection,” he finished.
In August of 2020, Robinson, and partner Thomas D. Luneau, led the CaseyGerry team to a precedent-setting victory in Bolger v. Amazon.com (2020) 53 Cal.App.5th. Robinson represented Angela Bolger who sustained severe burn injuries from a replacement battery purchased on Amazon.com. The courts had previously ruled in favor of Amazon but in the appeal handled by Robinson and Luneau, the original decision was overturned in the first published case of its kind.
Following the success of Bolger v. Amazon, Robinson co-authored the Public Justice amicus brief for other appeals including Oberdorf v. Amazon.com, Inc. 930 F.3d 136, and McMillan v. Amazon.com, Inc. Fifth Cir. No. 20-20108, and is working with legislators on AB 3262 which proposes that online marketplaces be held to the same level of accountability as brick-and-mortar retailers.
