Healthcare provider, San Diego Family Care (SDFC), has reported a data breach in which the sensitive data of over 125,000 individuals may have been compromised.
According to the notification, the California-based non-profit was made aware of the breach in January 2021 when their hosting provider experienced a cyberattack when an unauthorized third-party accessed information. SDFC is associated with Health Center Partners of Southern California (HCP) who was impacted in the security breach that took down their IT and hosting vendor, NetGain Technology LLC.
The notification sent out to those impacted stated that the accessed information was limited to insurance claims.
The notice filed with the Office of the Maine Attorney General shows that a total of 125,530 people were affected by the breach. In addition, it is noted that names or other identifying information “in combination with: Social Security numbers” were acquired.
