Mountain View Fire Attorneys | CaseyGerry Investigates Wildfire Impact

The Fire attorneys of CaseyGerry are investigating the impact of the Mountain View Fires in Ventura County, California.

After years of representing those who have been impacted by wildfires, particularly fires caused by the negligence of companies such as PG&E that destroyed whole towns and destroyed lives and property, CaseyGerry remains steadfast in being the voice of those against powerful companies who continue to put people’s lives at risk.

The Mountain View Fire is under investigation, however, it may have been  caused by faulty, unmaintained equipment  owned by utility company, Southern California Edison.

The Mountain View Fire started in the morning of November 6, 2024 in Somis, California. It spread rapidly over the next five hours devastating 14,000 acres before the end of the day.

An article by the VC Star titled, “Chaos and Devastation: How the Mountain View Fire Erupted” details the harrowing experience of many residents affected by the fire. The rapid spread of the fires was accelerated by the arid landscape and 80mph winds that, according to Ventura County Fire Chief Dustin Gardner, the fires were moving at a rate of 2000 acres per hour. Over 10,000 residents were evacuated from their homes.

The Mountain View Fire burned over 20,000 acres, destroyed 243 structures and damaged a further 127 structures. Six injuries were reported.

On November 8, 2024, a lawsuit was filed against Edison alleging that equipment owned by the utility company may have been responsible for the fire. Edison responded on November 12, 2024 by submitting a report to the California Public Utilities Commission. The lawsuit has since been dropped.

In the Woolsey Fires of 2018, officials determined that equipment owned and maintained by Edison was responsible for starting the fires that destroyed over 1600 structures and killed three people.

Fueled by dry conditions, vegetation and high winds, California remains one of the nation’s hotbeds for wildfires.  Sadly, many wildfires that have destroyed hundreds of thousands of acres and devastated the lives of millions could have been avoided. Mismanaged or poorly maintained equipment owned by utility companies are responsible for the largest and most destructive wildfires in California.

CaseyGerry has helped thousands of individuals and families who were impacted in wildfires. We advocate for the rights of our residents, standing up to companies who fail to take the necessary precautions to protect those they serve.
