Altadena Community Meeting on March 17, 2025, Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Chair Kathryn Barger addressed public concerns regarding the allocation of Fire Aid funds. While Fire Aid raised an estimated $100 million, LA County received $8 million, which has been distributed as follows:
- $2 million for services at Loma Alta Park, based on community feedback.
- $2.5 million allocated to the Household Relief Fund via the Department of Consumer and Business Affairs.
- $4.5 million directed to the Worker and Small Business Relief Fund via the Department of Economic Opportunity.
- $1 million to the Department of Arts and Culture for recovery-related programs.
Department of Economic Opportunity has awarded the first round of grants, totaling $2.7 million, to support those impacted:
- 82 businesses and nonprofits received $225,000 each.
- 324 workers received $2,000 each in direct relief.
A second round of funding, totaling $15.9 million, is set to be distributed by March 31, 2025. Businesses and individuals who applied but were not selected in the first phase will automatically be reconsidered for the next round.
