Line Fire Threatens Communities in Riverside County as Evacuation Orders Take Effect
The Line Fire, spreading through the San Bernardino Forest in Riverside County, has burned more than 37,000 acres and triggered evacuation orders for residents in Big Bear, Running Springs, and other nearby communities. This wildfire threatens over 65,000 structures and has damaged several businesses and homes. While three firefighters sustained injuries, fortunately, no deaths have been reported. The fire started on September 5, 2024, in Highland, California, and authorities arrested an individual on suspicion of arson.
By September 12, cooler night temperatures and moisture in the air slowed the fire’s growth. However, firefighters remain on high alert and continue to work tirelessly to curb the spread of the Line Fire. Currently, the fire is 21% contained, but evacuation orders and warnings are still in effect. Residents should stay prepared and act quickly if necessary.
