The law firm of CaseyGerry continues to investigate a recall of almost 60,000 SUVs due to a potential fire hazard. On July 13, 2022, the law firms of CaseyGerry and Bailey & Glasser, LLP filed a lawsuit against Ford Motor Company, on behalf of those who received a recall notice.
According to a report by NPR, the Ford Motor Company recalled 2021 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigators manufactured between December 2020 and April 2021.
The company launched the recall in response to 16 reports of car engines catching fire. In 12 of those cases, the cars were turned off. In addition, Ford is warning owners to park their vehicles outside and away from buildings. The company is also aware of one individual who has sustained burn injuries as a result of this defect.
In an article by CNBC, Ford, who recently initiated two other recalls, is taking this issue very seriously and will be notifying those impacted via mail and apps.
Investigation into the cause of the fire has been underway since March 2022. On May 19, 2022, the company put out a statement regarding the recall. Information on when the company first became aware of this defect, is unavailable.
