Einstein Healthcare Network Data Breach – Update

DID YOU RECEIVE NOTICE OF A DATA BREACH FROM EINSTEIN HEALTHCARE NETWORK AND SUFFERED FRAUD AS A RESULT?

In May 2021, CaseyGerry filed a lawsuit on behalf of those who were affected by the breach.

According to the notice of breach filed with the California Attorney General’s Office, the company discovered the breach on August 10, 2020. An internal investigation revealed that their systems may have been compromised between August 5 and August 17, 2020. Five months later, notice of the breach was submitted to governing agencies, and notices were sent to those impacted.

On August 10th, the company was made aware of suspicious activity with employee emails. Their investigation showed that an unauthorized party had gained access to employees’ email accounts. As a result, patient information may have been compromised including information like,

  • Name
  • Date of birth
  • Social Security number
  • Medical record or patient account number,
  • Health insurance information,
  • Treatment or clinical information, such as diagnosis, medications, provider, type of treatment, or treatment location.
