Following the $8 million settlement of a class action lawsuit, Chula Vista residents will start receiving tax rebates by the end of this month. CaseyGerry and Newport Beach-based Capretz & Associates joined forces to file and settle the lawsuit, which demanded restitution as a result of the City of Chula Vista’s continued collection of the controversial tax. CaseyGerry attorney Jeremy K. Robinson comments on the lawsuit, brought by two residents on behalf of Chula Vista taxpayers who believe the city unlawfully collected a 5 percent fee on their cellular phone bill.
