Department: Litigation
Essential Duties and Responsibilities*
- Draft complaints, discovery, and other pleadings for attorney review.
- Update the parties’ tree and add case information to case management system.
- Work with attorneys to obtain final lien reductions and amounts
- Deal with experts, lienholders, healthcare providers, and often be the contact person for third party witnesses, as well as arrange for expert examinations of clients.
- Re-profiling and re-naming E-Served documents and incoming faxes in case management system, as well as emails and documents received by attorneys when requested.
- Draft judgments, calls experts, court reporters to cease work and send final bills.
- Draft letters and other documents per the attorneys’ direction, including demands for settlement and mediation briefs, organizing documents and exhibits
- Draft settlement accountings, contact clients for approval and signature, arrange settlement check delivery
- Draft motion to continue, etc., keep track of pretrial and trial deadlines
- Draft transmittal letters to lienholders, clients, etc. of settlement along with checks
- Calendaring and service of documents, research defendant information with the secretary of the state and other online sources
- Draft minor’s comp paperwork
- Prepare cases for closure, assist with finalizing expenses and
- Assisting attorneys with preparation for depositions, document review, and other discovery and case matters through settlement, mediation, or trial.
- Support clients in their time of need when needed and be their main source of contact with the office and manage the case files.

software; the use of Microsoft products is preferred.
Education and/or Experience
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree and paralegal certificate from an ABA recognized paralegal program.
- Minimum of five-years litigation experience, or meaningful experience in a similar role.
- Solid understanding of civil procedure and state and federal court rules, and the ability to master local rules of court.
- Outstanding computer skills and a high-level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Experience with Relativity or similar eDiscovery programs, Trial Director and case and document management programs a plus.
