Root Insurance Data Breach

Earlier this year, Root Insurance reported a cybersecurity incident that may have put individuals’ personal information, including Drivers’ license numbers at risk of fraud.

According to the breach notice filed by the company, Root Insurance became aware of unusual activity in late January of 2021. The company noticed that accounts were being created with information such as names and dates of birth which may have been acquired elsewhere. With the creation of the accounts, the nefarious party was able to get other information such as drivers’ license numbers and vehicle information such as vehicle identification number, year, make and model.

The CaseyGerry law firm is investigating the Root Insurance breach. If you have received notice of the breach and believe that you have been negatively affected by the breach, please contact our law office at (619) 238-1811 to discuss your case.
