CaseyGerry is investigating a security breach that has put the sensitive information of individuals at risk.

In January of 2021, Metromile, a San Francisco-based car insurance startup discovered a cybersecurity breach in which a software bug was planted on the company’s quote query web page. This gave an unauthorized third-party the ability to gain access to individuals’ identifying information including drivers’ license numbers.

According to Tech Crunch, the company has filed a report with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The company has also filed a report with the California Attorney General’s Office.
