‘My Book’ Users Hit by Mass Storage Wipeout

CaseyGerry is investigating a hack which may have caused the loss of stored data of My Book Live devices, an external hard drive manufactured by Western Digital.

ars TECHNICA reported that multiple statements were made by My Book users whose devices had been compromised and reset to factory settings without their authorization, resulting in the loss of all their stored data.

According to Krebs On Security, My Book Live manufacturer, Western Digital, advised My Book Live users to disconnect their My Book devices from the internet to limit exposure.

According to the report by ars TECHNICA, the hack may have been the result of two security vulnerabilities in the My Book devices, which allowed the malicious parties to gain access and wipe out individuals’ stored data.

If you are a My Book Live user and have been affected by this storage wipeout, please contact our experienced attorneys at (619) 238-1811 to explore your legal rights.
