Terminix/Master Global Holdings Data Breach

Terminix and Master Global Holdings have reported a data breach that has affected almost 15,000 previous and current employee compromising sensitive information such as Date of Birth, Social Security Number, Employment dates, and 401K information such as balance and name of provider. This breach has affected employees across the United States whose personal and financial information is now available to hackers.

The breach was first discovered on September 16, 2020; however, it was reported that the breach ran from September 10 through to September 22, 2020. It is uncertain why the breach was not stopped or reported after discovery.

The breach occurred when an employee was misled by a phishing scam. Once hackers gained access, they were able to hijack employee information of previous and current employees nationwide.

In a notice to employees, the company stated that they have taken steps to stop the breach and have altered communication systems to enhance security.
