CaseyGerry Attorney Recalls Tragic 1968 Evening

This month marks the 50th anniversary of Robert F. Kennedy’s death. He had just won the California primary, and was mortally wounded after being shot by Sirhan Sirhan.

CaseyGerry partner Frederick Schenk was at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles the night RFK was killed.  He was just 14  – and was at the hotel with his mother.  They had been working on Kennedy’s campaign and were thrilled to be at the hotel that night to see their candidate in person. Both were certain he would win the California Democratic party primary that evening.

Schenk remembers the evening vividly – he was in the hotel all night and not allowed to leave.  In a recent Q & A with UT Community Newspapers, he remembers the tragic details of that evening, which he describes as one of the most profound experiences of his life.
