SAN DIEGO, Calif. — David S. Casey, Jr. – a senior partner at Casey Gerry Schenk Francavilla Blatt & Penfield, LLP – has been selected to oversee Senator Dianne Feinstein’s vetting committees for nominees to be U.S. District Court Judges, U.S. Attorneys and U.S. Marshals in California.
Sen. Feinstein recently established a series of five-member bipartisan advisory committees in each of California’s four Federal districts to screen and recommend all candidates. Casey, a longtime adviser to Feinstein, is charged with overseeing all the committees.
Each of the committees will present their recommendations to Casey, who will carefully review them before forwarding them to the senator. Well equipped to take on this task, Casey has served on the Federal judicial selection committee for a decade, and is past president of the American Association of Justice, the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego and the Consumer Attorneys of California.
“These committees are all made up of highly regarded attorneys who know their legal communities well,” Sen. Feinstein said. She expressed confidence that Casey, along with the committee members, would do “their utmost to help identify the most qualified candidates for the positions of U.S. District Court Judge, U.S. Attorney and U.S. Marshal.”
A third generation attorney, Casey Jr. has spent more than 30 years practicing law in San Diego. Specializing in serious personal injury and wrongful death cases, he has received over 50 awards from trial bar associations and obtained successful verdicts and settlements for dozens of high profile cases.
The native La Jollan received his juris doctorate from the USD School of Law and his bachelor’s degree from Trinity College.
