Casey, Gerry, Reed & Schenk partner lauded by Consumer Attorneys of San Diego

**SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Michael Montgomery — an attorney at Casey, Gerry, Reed & Schenk, a prominent plaintiff’s law firm — has been recognized as an “Outstanding Trial Lawyer” by the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego (CASD).

According to Frederick Schenk, a senior partner at Casey Gerry, Montgomery, who has been with the firm since 1989, was honored during a special “Evening with the Trial Stars” dinner hosted by CASD at the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel.

Schenk said that the award was presented to Montgomery based on his outstanding work on a negligence case he recently handled on behalf of plaintiff Larry Cundieff, a Poway resident.

“Mr. Cundieff was a Home Depot employee, and while working on an electric forklift there, received a severe electric shock that caused permanent injury to his left arm,” Schenk said.

The plaintiff contended that the defendant — forklift maintenance company W.T. Billard — had not properly maintained or inspected the vehicle. “Although the defendant denied any liability and argued it was impossible to receive an electric shock from the battery powered forklift, Montgomery successfully argued the case, obtaining a $880,000 jury verdict for this client,” Schenk said.

The case is just one example of the complex litigation that he has skillfully handled, Schenk added.

Montgomery concentrates his practice on premises liability cases arising from construction or work site injuries. In addition, he has successfully represented hundreds of victims who were exposed to asbestos at numerous job sites throughout the United States.

A native of Boise, Idaho, Montgomery earned his J.D. from the University of San Diego, and resides in the Point Loma neighborhood of San Diego.
