The pharmaceutical and medical device attorneys at CaseyGerry have a strong history in drug litigation. We are not currently accepting cases on behalf of individuals harmed by the popular type 2 diabetes drug, Actos (pioglitazone) manufactured by Takeda.
The Case
A recent FDA warning relates the extended use of the drug to bladder cancer, and initial analysis of the data shows that patients who take Actos for longer than twelve months are at significantly increased risk. In June 2011, Actos had its sales suspended by medical regulators in France and Germany, following a study that found people taking Actos were more likely to develop bladder cancer.
The FDA warns patients who are taking Actos and who are experiencing the following symptoms to contact their physician immediately.
Symptoms of bladder cancer include:
- Blood in urine.
- Lower back and abdominal pain.
- Urgent need to urinate.
- Pain during urination.
