Bloomberg Law spoke with CaseyGerry partner Jeremy Robinson on the recent court decision in Loomis v. Amazon.com, LLC and the widespread implication of the decision on online marketplaces.
In Loomis v. Amazon.com LLC, Kisha Loomis sustained burn injuries to her hand and foot when a hoverboard ordered through Amazon.com caught fire while charging.
The court originally ruled in favor of Amazon, however, the California Court of Appeal, Second Appellate District, Division Eight, has overturned this decision, holding Amazon liable.
“The new decision “sweeps in non-Fulfilled by Amazon products, which the Bolger court didn’t necessarily address,” Jeremy Robinson, who helped represent Loomis in her appeal, told Bloomberg Law April 27.
