Family of Qualcomm exec killed in mid-air collision files suit

CaseyGerry has filed suit on behalf of the family of a pilot killed last summer after the small airplane he was piloting collided with a jet while approaching Brown Field.

Michael Copeland, a Qualcomm executive, was alone is his Cessna 172 when it crashed. All four occupants of the jet were killed as well. According to  CaseyGerry attorney David S. Casey Jr., the lawsuit was filed against several parties, including Serco Inc., which provided air traffic control services for the Brown Field airport. “We believe the air traffic controllers failed to maintain a proper, safe distance between the two aircrafts,” he said.
