CaseyGerry Investigates Tesla’s Misleading Marketing Practices for ADAS Capabilities

September 23, 2022 Blog,Class Action,Class Actions

CaseyGerry is investigating allegations that Tesla has engaged in misleading and deceptive marketing practices regarding its Advanced Driver Assistance Systems technology (ADAS).

Tesla drivers reported that the car manufacturer’s messaging led them to believe that Tesla vehicles are fully self-driving cars or will be in the near future. An article in TechCrunch reports that Tesla vehicles come with a standard ADA system. However, customers are able to add features for an additional fee. One of the features is the Fully Self-Driving Software.

According to a Washington Times article, Tesla’s indication of being close to fully self-driving vehicles is three points below the international standard for complete automation (no human driver required) which is at a Level 5.

Several incidents in which ADAS are alleged to have failed to perform as expected have led to investigations by the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA) and other regulatory bodies.

The article, Tesla Faces Another Lawsuit Over Self-Driving Techby IOT Today, notes that the Tesla website clearly states their vehicles are not self-driving and require ‘active human supervision.’ However, the company continues to push the message of a soon-to-be full automation through marketing channels.
