Shari Schenk appointed to state commission for economic development

SAN DIEGO — Shari Schenk, director of marketing at the law offices of Casey Gerry Reed & Schenk, has been named a member of the State Commission for Economic Development.

Schenk was appointed by Governor Gray Davis to a four-year term on the Commission, which was formed to provide bipartisan support and guidance to the state Government and the private sector — for the optimum economic development of the state. The Lieutenant Governor chairs and staffs the 17-member Commission, with three members each being named by the Senate Rules Committee and the Assembly speaker.

According to David Casey, senior partner at Casey Gerry, firm partners are pleased about the appointment. “Carefully planned economic development programs are critical to ensure business expansion and growth in California,” he said. “This Commission provides an important forum for assessing regional and local economic development issues and for making recommendations for problem solving, and we are very pleased to have a presence on it.”

A resident of Carmel Valley, Schenk earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Tufts University and an MBA in marketing from San Diego State University. She is a graduate of the Wexner Heritage Foundation program for leadership development.

She currently serves on the board of the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center and is actively involved in the San Diego Jewish Academy. She is a former president of the Agency for Jewish Education, and was a board member of the United Jewish Federation’s Women’s Division from 1994 until this year.
