Firm partner Frederick Schenk is keenly focused on giving back to his community, and serves on the Board of Directors for 22nd District Agricultural Association (San Diego County Fair Board). Appointed by Gov. Jerry Brown in 2011, he has a long-time association with the Fair Board, and was appointed previously by former Governor Gray Davis, serving from 2002 to 2006. He also served as volunteer President of the Board between 2013 to 2016. As an example of the kind of community work he does in this capacity: when wildfires plagued North San Diego County, Schenk and his board rallied to help provide needed shelter, food and water to over 1200 animals throughout San Diego County, expediting their immediate rescue to the County Fairgrounds. Each summer, the fairgrounds engage in community service. This year, the Care N’ Share Toy Drive collected more than 12,000 stuffed animals for children in need. In this interview with the Del Mar Times, Schenk discusses this year’s fair, which drew more than 1.5 million visitors.
