San Andreas Regional Center Data Breach

San Andreas Regional Center (SARC) has reported a data breach that occurred on July 5, 2021. SARC which is based out of San Jose, California, provides support services for individuals with developmental disabilities.

According to the company’s notice of breach filed with the California Attorney General’s Office, the incident was a result of a ransomware attack. The company’s investigation revealed that highly personal and health-related information may have been compromised in the attack including, individual’s name, date of birth, Social Security number, full face photos or similar identifying images, address, phone number, unique identifying number or code, certificate or license number, disability code, medical information, and diagnosis.
