FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SAN DIEGO, Calif. — David S. Casey, Jr. — a prominent San Diego attorney who specializes in serious personal injury, wrongful death and business and consumer fraud cases — was recently named a fellow of the prestigious International Academy of Trial Lawyers.

Casey, a senior partner at the San Diego-based law firm of Casey Gerry Reed & Schenk, was the only San Diegan and one of just 19 other attorneys from around the world who were inducted into the Academy at an annual meeting held recently in Kona, Hawaii.

As a fellow, Casey joins the elite ranks of the Academy, whose 500 U.S. members constitute the country’s top trial lawyers, among them corporate defense, plaintiff and criminal defense attorneys. In addition, the Academy has 100 Fellows from over 30 countries throughout the world.

According to Ronald D. Krist, president of the Minneapolis-based organization, which was founded in 1954, membership in the academy is by invitation only. Casey was selected for the honor after a “very extensive and thorough nomination process based on his outstanding skills and extensive experience as a trial lawyer, unimpeachable personal and professional character, integrity and honesty,” Krist said.

“I am honored to have been selected as a fellow by this esteemed organization,” said Casey. “This recognition is a high point in my career and I’m looking forward to being an active participant and vocal advocate for the Academy.”

A third-generation attorney, Casey has spent more than 25 years practicing law. He has long been recognized as a top lawyer in his field, obtaining successful verdicts and settlements for dozens of high profile cases, including the largest settlement in a personal injury case against the City of San Diego and involvement in the largest fraud case in Honda Auto motive’s history.

Casey has received numerous professional awards, including more than 40 accolades from the Trial Bar Association and the “Outstanding Trial Lawyer” award from the San Diego Trial Lawyer’s Association (SDTLA). Currently Treasurer of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, he is also a member of the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego (previously SDTLA), the American Board of Trial Advocates and the Trial Lawyers for Public Justice. In addition, he is past president of both the SDTLA and the Consumer Attorneys of California, and has been inducted into the International Academy of Barristers.

The native San Diegan received his bachelor’s degree from Trinity College and was awarded a law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law. In 1974, he joined what is now Casey Gerry Reed & Schenk, a law firm his father founded 50 years ago.

The International Academy of Trial Lawyers is engaged in programs to cultivate the science of jurisprudence, promote reforms in the law, facilitate the admission of justice and elevate the standards of integrity, honor and courtesy in the legal profession.

Established in 1947, Casey Gerry Reed & Schenk is the oldest plaintiffs’ law firm in San Diego. The firm’s eleven attorneys practice in numerous areas, including personal injury, business torts, medical malpractice, asbestos litigation, maritime law, class action and products liability. The firm is located at 110 Laurel Street in the Banker’s Hill neighborhood of San Diego. For further information call (619) 238-1811 or Contact Us online.
