Project Description

Case Summary:

Two pilots flew from Carlsbad, Calif., to Eagle, Colo., in a Piper Comanche equipped with a recently installed flight instrument (JPI EDM-930) designed to be a total engine management system. CaseyGerry argued that instruments did not report accurate information to the pilots, which caused their Piper Comanche to crash land in a field just short of their final destination.

Aircraft Description:

The Piper Comanche is an all-metal aircraft with retractable landing gear. Comanche production lasted from 1956 to 1972, when Hurricane Agnes caused flooding in the Piper manufacturing plant destroying airframes, parts, and the tooling used in production.
