Injured Physician Awarded More than $7 Million Following Wheelchair Incident

CaseyGerry obtained a $7.6 million jury verdict for a physician who has been wheelchair-bound since 1983 when his neck was fractured in a diving accident. The litigation arose from a 2014 incident, when a Clinton River Medical Products defective product, a Tailwind power assist wheelchair failed — seriously injuring the physician, who was descending the ramp from his car in the wheelchair. Without warning the wheelchair’s power assist mechanism went out – sending the plaintiff crashing into an adjacent vehicle causing him to break his tibia and fibula and rendering permanent, excruciating pain.
