Chula Vista residents taxed on their cell phone bill by the city can now get a refund.
As part of a recent $8 million settlement between the city of Chula Vista and two residents, the city will refund cell phone users taxed under the utility users tax.

Last week, New York City began its long-awaited bicycle sharing program, the largest in the nation. As in many other cities, helmet use was made optional, in part to encourage greater participation.
Following the recent $8 million settlement of a class action lawsuit between wireless phone users and the City of Chula Vista, a series of informational meetings will be held Mondays, May 20, June 17 and July 15 from 6 to 7:30pm to discuss how eligible taxpayers can make phone tax rebate claims for settlement payments being made available for Chula Vista residents under the settlement terms.

The City of Chula Vista appears set to settle a class action lawsuit brought by wireless phone users who claim the city has been charging an illegal tax rate on the devices.
A San Diego court has preliminarily approved a class action settlement between wireless phone users and the City of Chula Vista that includes $8 million being made available for funding for rebates and refunds of the City’s telephone user’s tax and payment of litigation expenses and attorneys’ fees.
