Four Partners Named to Lawdragon’s 500 Leading Plaintiff Consumer Lawyers List

SAN DIEGO (July 2019) Four CaseyGerry partners – David S. Casey Jr., Frederick Schenk, Robert J. Francavilla and Gayle M. Blatt – have been recognized as among Lawdragon’s “500 Leading Plaintiff Consumer Lawyers” for 2019.

Lawdragon, a legal media company, first published the Lawdragon 500 Leading Plaintiff Consumer Lawyers list in 2007. The list presents the best of the U.S. plaintiff bar who specialize in representing individuals who have suffered injuries from accidents, pharmaceuticals, civil rights abuse and other torts – either individual or class actions cases.

All four are highly regarded attorneys with a deep knowledge and vast experience in consumer law:

Casey Jr. is known for taking on high profile, complex cases, including representing the family of deceased NFL hero Junior Seau and of baseball legend Tony Gwynn – the Padres player who died of salivary gland cancer following a lifetime addiction to smokeless tobacco – in a case against U.S. Tobacco. Additionally, Casey Jr. served on the plaintiffs steering committee for the Fiat Chrysler Jeep Dodge diesel emissions fraud litigation, helping to achieve a $307 million settlement. And as liaison counsel, he helped achieve a $390 million settlement with Wells Fargo in 2019 over insurance marketing.

Schenk, who has been with CaseyGerry for 36 years, achieved the largest verdict ever in San Diego against an asbestos manufacturer – Owens Corning Fiberglass – obtaining a $2.4 million verdict in punitive damages as well as economic losses. In addition, his knowledge in the area of automobile collision litigation was recognized when he was selected as a consulting editor for Matthew Bender’s Legal Publication, “Pleading and Practice Vol. 8”, on Automobiles He is also co-author of LexisNexis Publishing’s, “California Automobile Collision Handbook.” Active in the community, he serves the board of directors of the 22nd District Agricultural Association (San Diego County Fair Board) and is the only San Diego attorney on the American Association for Justice’s (AAJ) board of governors.

A CaseyGerry attorney for over 30 years, Francavilla concentrates his practice on serious personal injury/head injury and products liability. He been named a Consumer Attorney’s of San Diego’s (CASD) Trial Lawyer of the Year and is a six-time winner of CASD’s Outstanding Trial Lawyer Award. Additionally, he has been named one of the Top 25 Plaintiffs Lawyers in California by the Los Angeles Daily Journal.

Blatt is head of CaseyGerry’s complex litigation practice group, handling high profile, multi-million-dollar cases. She has been appointed to leadership roles in litigation related to global chip maker Intel for security flaws and technology giant Apple Inc. for device performance issues. She was also appointed to serve on the Plaintiffs Executive Committee overseeing the nationwide class action litigation related to the massive data breaches revealed by Yahoo Inc. and is the only California attorney to serve on that committee.
