SAN DIEGO — Richard Gerry, a founding partner of Casey Gerry Reed & Schenk, was recently inducted into the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego’s (CASD) Past Presidents’ Trial Lawyer Hall of Fame.

The award was recently presented at a special dinner held at the San Diego Yacht Club.

According to Cynthia Chihak, a CASD past president who helped organize the event at which the award was presented, the Trial Lawyer Hall of Fame regularly commemorates the career contributions of outstanding CASD members based on their accomplishments as trial lawyers, on their service to the public, and on their leadership.

“Inductees are carefully selected by a committee of past CASD presidents,” Chihak said. “Other attributes considered by the committee are the nominee’s advocacy and high ethical standards.”

A partner at Casey Gerry Reed & Schenk (CGRS) for 23 years, Richard Gerry remains of counsel to the firm, continuing his long-time involvement with the Exxon Valdez oil spill litigation. Gerry was one of five attorneys who represented the fisherman plaintiffs in this high profile class action lawsuit — ultimately working to obtain a groundbreaking $5 billion jury verdict.

A past president of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the largest trial lawyer organization in the United States, Gerry has also been recognized as an “outstanding personal injury” expert by Best Lawyers in America publication. He currently serves as the Steering Committee contact concerning all cases arising from the Exxon Valdez oil spill, and is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates. Gerry resides in La Jolla.

Founded in 1960 by David Casey Sr. — Gerry’s long-time law partner at CGRS — CASD is a San Diego based organization of trial lawyers dedicated to preserving and protecting the legal rights of consumers.

Casey Gerry Reed and Schenk was established in 1947, and is the oldest plaintiff’s’ law firm in San Diego. The firm’s eleven attorneys practice in numerous areas, including, personal injury, business torts, medical malpractice, asbestos litigation, maritime law, class action and products liability.

The firm is located at 110 Laurel St. in the Banker’s Hill neighborhood of San Diego.
