SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Casey, Gerry, Reed & Schenk (CGRS) recently tapped Gayle M. Blatt, Robert J. Francavilla and Thomas D. Penfield to serve as partners, according to Frederick Schenk, managing partner with the prominent plaintiff’s law firm.

“We are honored to have these three talented attorneys as partners in our firm,” Schenk said. “Their breadth of expertise and experience and dedication to the profession will continue to serve Casey Gerry well.”

Blatt, who embarked on her law career as a clerk for CGRS, was previously an associate with the firm. She now concentrates her practice on class action litigation, personal injury and wrongful death. Earning numerous multi-million dollar results for her clients, she is especially active in product liability cases involving children. A frequent lecturer, she has served as a workshop leader for the San Diego Inn of Court’s College of Advocacy and as a judge in National Advocacy Competitions. Also a former CGRS associate, Francavilla focuses his practice on all aspects of serious personal injury and wrongful death actions including product liability, automotive litigation, premises liability and highway design matters. The Consumer Attorneys of San Diego have twice honored him with an Outstanding Trial Lawyer Award. He serves on the Executive Board of the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego and is a member of the Consumer Attorneys of California, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and the San Diego County Bar Association. A former Tort Law Editor of the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego’s publication Trial Bar News , he has also served as an instructor at the San Diego Inn of Court’s College of Advocacy and is an arbitrator by appointment of the San Diego Superior Court. A resident of the Golden Triangle, Francavilla earned his J.D. from University of San Diego. Like Blatt, he holds the highest rating offered by Martindale Hubble.

Prior to joining the firm, Penfield was a full-time clinical professor at the University of San Diego School of Law and a supervising trial lawyer with the Defenders Program of San Diego. He now specializes in environmental and general business tort litigation and has managed several multi-million dollar cases during his tenure at the firm — obtaining a $14.1 million jury verdict while representing the Hahn Corporation against U.S. Mineral. He earned his law degree from California Western School of Law and is active with the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Consumer Attorneys of California and the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego. In 1996, Penfield was the recipient of the environmental Lawyer of the Year Award from the Sierra Club.
