Career Group, Inc. Data Breach

Career Group, Inc., a leading recruiting firm based out of Santa Monica, California, has reported a data breach that may have affected almost 50,000 people.

According to the notice of breach filed with the California Attorney General’s office, the company became aware that an unauthorized third party gained access to the company network. An internal investigation revealed that between June 28 and July 7, 2021, the unauthorized third-party gained access to certain files and removed them from the network. Career Group, Inc. is notifying the 49,476 individuals who were affected by the breach including Maine residents. The notice of breach filed with the Office of the Maine Attorney General revealed the compromised data includes identifying information and individuals’ Social Security Numbers.

DataBreaches.net reported that the breach was a result of a ransomware attack, and that Career Group, Inc. was assured that the compromised data was deleted and “not further disseminated.”
