Belden Inc. Data Breach

CaseyGerry is investigating a data breach reported by networking product manufacturer and distributor, Belden Inc., and Grass Valley USA, LLC, a media technology company.

Belden Inc., an international technology manufacturer, and distributor of networking products, recently announced a data breach. The breach exposed identifying information of past and current employees such as name, date of birth, home address, email address, as well as government-issued identification information such as social security numbers. In addition, the financial information for some, such as bank account details, was also compromised.

Belden Inc. became aware of the incident on November 12, 2020 when unusual activity was detected on the company’s servers. It was determined that unauthorized users had infiltrated the servers initiating a cyberattack, gaining access to sensitive information of past and current Belden Inc. employees.

On November 18, 2020, Grass Valley USA, LLC, a media technology company formerly owned by the Belden group until July of this year, was informed that the data breach may have compromised the personal information of past and current Grass Valley employees.

Neither Belden Inc. nor Grass Valley USA, LLC reported the number of individuals affected or how many years of data was accessed.
