Auris Health Inc. Data Breach

Auris Health Inc. has reported a data breach that may have compromised patients’ identifying and sensitive data, adding to the plethora of cyber attacks on the health industry.

Auris Health Inc. is a robotics medical company focusing on surgical robotics for less invasive medical treatment. It is a subsidiary of Ethicon, Inc. and part of the Johnson & Johnson conglomerate. The company is based in Redwood City, California.

In a notice sent out on January 27, 2021, Auris Health Inc. reported that an unauthorized user had accessed the email account of an Auris employee from March 2020. The company reports that the unauthorized access was terminated upon discovery but failed to state when it was discovered, or how long the attacker had access to sensitive information.

Some of the information compromised includes: Social Security Number, tax identification number, passport number, health insurance number, health information, payment card information, and financial account number(s).
