American Pool Enterprises, Inc. Data Breach

CaseyGerry is investigating a data breach reported by American Pool Enterprises, the largest swimming pool maintenance company in the United States, that has compromised the information of 59,749 individuals including eleven in Maine.

The company provides comprehensive commercial pool maintenance services in over 30 locations across the United States to a range of clients such as military bases, hotels, homeowner associations, country clubs and fitness clubs.

According to the Notice of Security Incident filed with the Office of the Maine Attorney General, American Pool Enterprises Inc. became aware of the incident on August 1, 2021 when they could not gain access to certain files on their network. Their investigation revealed that an unauthorized party had gained access to their systems. Further investigation revealed that highly sensitive data such as names, addresses and Social Security numbers, was present in the affected files.

The company has started sending out data incident notifications to those potentially affected by the breach.
