CaseyGerry is investigating a data breach reported by ClearBalance which may have compromised highly sensitive information of ClearBalance participants.
ClearBalance is a loan-servicing company headquartered in San Diego, California. The company provides patient financing programs to hospitals and other healthcare facilities across the country.
According to the breach notice on the company website, ClearBalance noticed irregular activity on April 26, 2021, when an unauthorized wire transfer of ClearBalance funds was attempted.
The company’s internal investigation showed that between March 8 and April 26, 2021, an unauthorized party gained access to ClearBalance email accounts containing personal information of ClearBalance participants.
Compromised information includes:
- Name
- Date of birth
- Social Security number
- Phone number
- Government-issued ID
- A full-face photographic image
Financial data includes:
- ClearBalance loan information
- Bank account and routing number
Health and insurance information includes:
- Healthcare account number
- Dates of service
- Clinical and health insurance information
