Significant Contribution

“Our San Diego personal injury lawyers have recovered billions of dollars on behalf of clients since 1947,” says managing partner David S. Casey, Jr. “We believe our obligation is to treat every client with the highest respect and do our very best for them. It is an honor to represent and support an individual whose life has been severely impacted, and we treat this responsibility very seriously.”

David S. Casey, Jr. joined the law firm of CaseyGerry in 1976 after working as a prosecutor for the San Diego City Attorney’s office. The firm was founded by his late father, David S. Casey Sr. in 1947 and is the oldest plaintiffs’ law firm in San Diego. With dozens of high-profile verdicts and settlements achieved over 40 years in law, David is well on his way to attaining his father’s – who tried more than 700 jury trials – legendary status.

David leads the firm’s car accident lawyers in San Diego in obtaining multi-million dollar results each year in a complex range of cases such as the Volkswagen Emissions scandal in which David was appointed to the national Plaintiff’s Steering Committee overseeing litigation. The case was resolved for $14.7 billion, one of the biggest corporate settlements in history.

In the Chrysler Dodge-Jeep Ecodiesel® Marketing, Sales Practices, and Products Liability Litigation, David was appointed by the federal court to serve on the Plaintiff’s Steering Committee. The case was resolved for $300 million.

David has been lauded with more than 100 professional accolades. His awards include the 2018 Witkin Award for Excellence in the Practice of Law by the San Diego Law Library Foundation; the 2019 Hughes McClenahan Award for civility in the practice of law by the San Diego Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), and the 2019 Distinguished Alumni Award by the University of San Diego. In 2020 and 2021, Casey was recognized as one of the Daily Journal’s Top Plaintiff Lawyers in California, and for the 11th time, one of the Daily Journal’s Top 100 Lawyers in California. He is AVVO rated, a Super Lawyer since 2007, a Best Lawyer since 2006, and more.

He is the past president of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (now American Association for Justice) – the world’s largest trial bar, the Consumer Attorneys of California, the Western Trial Lawyers Association, and the San Diego Trial Lawyers Association.

Since 2008, he has served as state chair for Senator Dianne Feinstein’s judicial selection committee, maintaining a steadfast volunteer commitment to finding the most qualified judicial candidates for the federal bench in California. Prior to his appointment as state chair, David served on the local San Diego judicial selection committee for 16 years.

A native of La Jolla, he enjoys traveling with his wife Lisa and two grown children, as well as a good game of tennis.
